What is TCM?
TCM means Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is an acient medical system that is still being used today. The therapeutical methods are based on the theory of Qi & Blood flowing, the function and relationship of internal organs with external meridians, and the interaction of human body function with the lifestyle and environmental factors.
Qi is the life force or life energy of body function, stored/ supplied in blood, is also the basis of TCM treatment.
Disease is a expression or condition of body abnormal function. TCM treat the body (not the disease) to restore the normal body function
The factors affect body normal function could be:
Environmental factors include hot, cold, raining, wind, dryness, dampness.
Emotional factor: joy, anger,worry, pensiveness, fear, sadness, anxiety, surprise, grief, love, etc.
Pathological factors like: inner dampness and phlegm accumulation, blood stasis, qi blockage etc.
Life style factor: food habit (eating, smoking, drinking), work, movement & exercise, sleep, sex.
Other factors: injury, animal biting, poison, aging etc.
